Children's Dentistry in Aptos was founded by Dr. Stephen Fehrman over 20 years ago. Dr. Fehrman developed his practice based on fundamental dentistry and outstanding patient care. In October of 2004, Dr. Alison Jackson purchased the practice upon Dr. Fehrman's retirement. She has continued in Dr. Fehrman's footsteps and looks forward to a new generation of healthy children and bright smiles in Santa Cruz County.

About Dr. Alison Jackson:

Dr. Jackson began practicing pediatric dentistry in 2000 and moved to her current office in 2003. She emphasizes preventive dentistry and patient education as the most important methods for preventing dental disease and has found a perfect fit for this philosophy here in Aptos.

Dr. Jackson grew up in the Central Valley near Fresno, California. She headed south to earn her B.S. degree in animal physiology and neuroscience from the University of California, San Diego. In 1995, she moved north to San Francisco where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. She graduated with honors as a member of the National Dental Honor Society. She moved south again to UCLA where she completed two years of specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry and was hospital chief resident. For the next three years, Dr. Jackson continued to gain experience as an associate in a busy practice near downtown Los Angeles before she made her final (and permanent) trip north to Aptos.

Dr. Jackson has extensive experience in all phases of Pediatric Dentistry. She is a guest lecturer at UCLA where she discusses women in dentistry, practice management and other issues unique to pediatric practices. She is actively involved in the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry and currently serves on the board of directors for the Monterey Bay Dental Society. In 2009, Dr. Jackson received the distinguished honor of being named Dentist of the Year by the Monterey Bay Dental Society. Dr. Jackson brings both professional experience and compassion to her practice.

Outside the office, Dr Jackson is busy being Linnea and William's mom. She enjoys pedaling her bike around the Santa Cruz trails and backroads. When the wind is fair, you'll find her sailing on Monterey Bay or Huntington Lake.

About Dr. Juei Kao:

Dr. Kao is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Dental Program and he received his pediatric dental training and Dr. Kao certificate at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Dr. Kao is an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCSF. Additionally, he has been a valuable member of the Dientes pediatric dental team here in Santa Cruz for several years. Dr Kao is involved in multiple dental organizations, including the California Society for Pediatric Dentistry and the ADA. Since returning to California, Dr. Kao has made it his priority to provide pediatric dental care to underserved populations in the Bay Area and Central Coast.

Dr. Kao is a very soft spoken, gentle pediatric dentist who provides excellent care to his infant through teen patients. He enjoys bringing his love of jazz and classical music into the office to share with our staff and patients.
